The Virgin and Child with St. Anne and the Infant St. John, also known as the Burlington House
Cartoon and is housed at the National Gallery in London.
Appearing on both sides are examples of possible images embedded within the original work.
The picture on the above left portrays a shape that resembles a hand placed on the knee of the
Virgin. Looking at the entire arm,the elbow bends slightly, and blends in with the Virgins leg and
ankle. Note the way Leonardo wove the arm and hand into the robe. All of the hidden images
are integrated  in such a way as to be very difficult to discern.
Da Vinci tricks the eye of the viewer such that the form of the arm and hand overlook in favor
of the main image.
The image on the right appears to be that of a woman on the knee of St. Anne in the center of
the drawing. The knee recedes in the drawing, and as such, considering the light source, should
appear darker, but instead it is lighter. Careful scrutiny reveals what may be the faint features of
a woman. The image appears to have a soft haze surrounding the face and is looking out from
the drawing to the right. This appears to be another instance of Leonardo camouflaging an image.
Above center is the Virgin and Child with St. Anne and the Infant St. John.
"The Perpendicular Reverse Mirror Imaging Process.
Above and to the left is the right side of the drawing. When a mirror is held up perpendicular to the right half of the picture the resulting picture which is seen
below right is composed of several images. The upper half of the picture appears to be a primitive man, his features, particularly his eyes, nose and jaw have a
primeval quality with large muscular shoulders, chest and his torso narrowing to the waist. If you look carefully at the waistline of St John there is a Chalice and
within the chalice a praying figure. Again the images appear to be of a divine, spiritual nature. The base of the chalice contains the Masonic Symbol, a compass
and square. Why did Leonardo draw the symbol? For a long time people have sought the secrets through to be left by da Vinci...the famed da Vinci code. The
new findings are a combination of religious, and ideological symbols. They are well hidden and appear to be carefully interwoven into the works. Understanding
that da Vinci did nothing without reason, that what he created had purpose and or meaning, it is almost certain that the symbols have not only individual
meaning, but taken as a series, an overall message. Are these hidden images the famous da Vinci code? The Masonic Symbol is obvious. Are there also
references and connections to the Knights Templar?,A map locating King Solomon's temple or perhaps the Holy Grail, the location of Mary's Grave?...The
possibilities abound; Leonardo was a true genius and well connected ...But with whom, why and how? He used mirror writing to disguise the meanings of his
writings...He wanted to even greater lengths to use mirrors to hide the images and the message in his greatest works. This research and the findings are but the
first step in the process of answering the mysteries of da Vici that have existed for over 500 years!
